Unstopping the Wells of Revival, Pt. 2

Genesis 26:12-25 says, “Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. 13And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: 14For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him. 15For all the wells which his father’s servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth. 16And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we. 17And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there. 18And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them. 19And Isaac’s servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water. 20And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac’s herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him. 21And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah. 22And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land. 23And he went up from thence to Beersheba. 24And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake. 25And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac’s servants digged a well.”
God had reiterated the covenant that He made with Abraham to Isaac, and the land of Gerar was part of the land of promise. They were called to be blessed! In a time a famine, they entered into that land, and the people asked about Rebekah, and out of fear, he repeated the same mistakes of his father and said, “She is my sister.” Do not make the same mistakes of our heritage or even allow the same generational curses to come upon you, but defeat them through the blood of Jesus Christ! However, Abimelech noticed his sporting of Rebekah, which allowed him to realize she was his wife, and he told the people of Gerar not to touch her!

From this text, here are some lessons you need to know:

1) Isaac sowed and reaped a 100fold, even in the midst of famine because of his faithfulness to the covenant of God and know God was on his side. He was so wealthy that he had possessions of flocks, herds and servants.

2) The Philistines were giants in the land. Genesis 6 teaches that giants were formed when the sons of God, who were fallen angels, came unto the daughters of men. In other words, giants are formed in our lives when we become intimate with the lies of the enemy. While Isaac was a seed of promise, giants were seeds of destruction that are formed when one becomes intimate with the adversary.

3) The devil is jealous of us because we took his place! We are blessed, and he is cursed forever!

4) All of the wells that Abraham had dug were filled with dirt out jealousy, which would have been a declaration of war in the Old Testament. Jealousy of others will cause wells to be filled with dirt. James 3:13-18 says, “13Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. 14But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 15This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. 16For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. 17But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 18And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.” While humility and character demonstrate God’s wisdom, jealousy and strife demonstrates earthly and devilish wisdom.

5) We must contend for the wells of our fathers because the enemy wants to stop the revival of our heritage from flowing into the present-day culture! *These old paths will lead to new things. We are so caught up with the lights, camera, action and our order that we do not pursue God’s order! If we would tap into the same flow of the spirit that happened years ago, and I am not referring to traditional rudiments that forms denominations and kills moves of God, then people would saved. They are not saved by entertainment, but they are won to God when we become wells of living water through prayer, fasting, obedience and declaring God’s Word!

6) The enemy wants to fill your wells up with dirt. We were made of the dirt because it is the dirt that formed our flesh. Our flesh can get in the way of a flow of revival! It is the dirt of our old identity that can stop our wells, but it is time to unstop them! *In natural wells, filters need changed. The enemy seeks to contaminate our water supply with sin, but there is a time to change the filter where we go from glory to glory in God! We need more of God than what we are use to experiencing. We have to filter our water to make sure no garbage is getting in and only the truth is going through.

7) Compare what you are hearing to the Word of God in order to text its validity.

8) The enemy wants to claim your well and mouthpiece, but do not give him any room to operate.

9) The first well was Esek, which means, “strife, to press upon, quarrel, to strive with.” This reflects division within our land or community.

10) The second well was Sitnah, which means, “opposition, accusation, resistance, attacks, and harassment”. This reflects opposition that comes as a result of our faith in God.

11) They dug a third well, which was called Rehoboth, which means, “making room for, to become fruitful, make a broad way”. He is making room for us and us fruitful in a barren land that is in a famine of God’s Word.
It was Beersheba, which is the well of seven! There God confirmed the Abrahamic covenant with Isaac once again.
