An Invitation to Go Higher!

Luke 14:7-11 (NASB) says, “7And He began speaking a parable to the invited guests when He noticed how they had been picking out the places of honor at the table, saying to them, 8“When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for someone more distinguished (honorable in reputation) than you may have been invited by him, 9and he who invited you both will come and say to you, ‘Give your place to this man,’ and then in disgrace you proceed to occupy the last place. 10“But when you are invited, go and recline at the last place, so that when the one who has invited you comes, he may say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher’; then you will have honor in the sight of all who are at the table with you. 11“For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

In parallel to this parable, many feel entitled to sit in places of honor, such as the “head of the table”, but God wants us to be humble so He can promote us! It is embarrassing and humiliating when we are removed from our seats, or rather try to take someone’s place out of entitlement or jealousy. God will always humble us this way! However, He will give you an invitation to go up higher when you are seated at the last place at the table!

God wants to rebuild trust and honor in your hearts by bringing emotional healing and clothing you with humility. Be thankful for those surrounding you who do love and care about you! Never focus on failed friendships when you have godly relationships all around you that do work. They should never replace your relationship with God, but it is all about being a part of the family of God!

You may have feel as though you have failed as a leader, such as a parent or in ministry, but God wants to restore you! Psalm 39:13b (TPT) says, “May our frown over my failure become a smile over my success.” David’s failure became Solomon’s success. Samson’s failure became Israel’s success. Peter’s failure became the church’s success. It’s not that it is God’s will for us to fail, nor is He pleased, but He will use our failures to His advantage to bless you with success! Did the Father not answer Jesus’ prayer over Peter when He prayed his faith will not fail? Would we say by our definition Peter failed? In God’s eyes, He didn’t because from His experience, He was able to strength the faith of others!

So, God wants to break the spirit of failure over you! If you feel like you have failed as a mother or father, husband or wife, student, coach, teacher, minister, or whatever area, know Jesus has been praying for you that your faith will not fail!
