The Splendor of Heaven

John 14:1-3 says, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
Your choices will determine your destiny, and your choices will either lead you to heaven or hell, and let me explain the difference in the two. This life that you live is only a dressing room to prepare for the destination you will reach to. Let me show you the splendor of heaven.
Can you imagine a place where the glory of the LORD and the praises of our King fill an entire land every single day? It is a place where John said in Revelation 5:11-12, “And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.” There is continual praise and worship in heaven. Some people may think churches get too loud or too carried away, but what do you think heaven will be like? The celebration never stops! The clapping, shouting, dancing and running never ends because the praise and worship is everlasting from every creature in heaven. If you cannot praise and worship God down here on earth, how do you expect to praise and worship Him in heaven?
In my eyes, I believe that heaven and earth have similar features. Think about it. From Niagara Falls to the Grand Canyon to very area we live, this world is a beautiful place. The only difference is that the wages of sin has produced death and ugliness in this land, meaning that heaven will be just that much more beautiful. It is so beautiful in its splendor that John begins to describe it when he in Revelation 4:1 was “caught up” to heaven. After all of the tribulation he saw and the martyrs for Christ which “no man could number” and falling of the Antichrist Empire, he saw the city of New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven, as a bride adorned for her husband. It is a place where there would be no more death, sorrow, sin, pain or crying, for the former things will have passed away and all things will become new. He saw a city 1,500 miles square feet, meaning it was 1,500 miles wide, 1,500 miles long and 1,500 miles high. The city is so rich in abundance that the streets are paved with gold, not gravel, pavement or dirt, but gold, and it is so transparent that you will be able to see right through it. There is a great wall standing high surrounding that glorious city, containing three gates on the north, three on the south, three on the east and three on the west. Each of these gates are made of pearls. Angels are standing as the gatekeeper of each of these gates, and on those gates are the names of the 12 tribes of Israel, just as it was in the days of Tabernacle of Moses when three tribes camped on the east side (Joseph, Benjamin and Dan), north side (Reuben, Judah and Levi), south side (Simeon, Isaachar and Zebulun) and west side (Gad, Asher and Naphtali). (Ezekiel 48:30-35) On walls of surrounding that city are twelve foundation stones that represents the disciples of Jesus Christ. Their names are even written on those stones. These 12 foundation stones include jasper, sapphire, chalcedony, emerald, sardonyx, sardius, chrysolyte, beryl, topaz, chrysoprasus, jacinth and amethyst.

In that city there will be no temple because the LORD God Almighty and Jesus Christ will be that very temple. There will be no need for the sun, moon or stars because the glory of God will illuminate that land, even to where there will never be any darkness there at all. From the throne of God to throughout the city will flow the river of life, which is clear as crystal. It was this very same river I believe Ezekiel saw in Ezekiel 47, where Ezekiel stepped in ankle deep, then went a little further till the water got up to his knees, then a little further till it got waist high, and then finally got in waters he could swim. Could you imagine being able to swim in the river of life? On both sides of that river will be the tree of life. This was the very tree that Adam and Eve refused to eat from because everything looked and seemed better on the tree of knowledge of good and evil. However, when you make it into heaven, you will be eating from the tree of life, with the promise of eternal life because you refused to eat of that other tree because you had the tree of life in sight. On that tree will be 12 manners fruits, and every month that tree will produce more fruit. Its very leaves will be for the healing of the nations. It is such a beautiful place that words could never paint a picture of it, no matter how much time I take to describe it to you. As the saying goes, “It is better felt than told.” Once you experience that city, you will never want to come back!

It is easy to allow the troubles in this life to sway our minds from our eternal home, but we have a heaven to gain and a hell to shun, more to reach out for than to hold onto. Heaven is a beautiful land, but not everyone will be able to call it home. Only those names who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, who chose Christ Jesus as their Savior and obeyed the commandments of God, will be able to obtain eternal life.
