The Sacrifice of Thanksgiving

Hebrews 13:15 says, “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”

This day is one of the greatest celebrations throughout the year:  Thanksgiving. It is a time and season to reminisce on the many blessings God has bestowed upon our lives as we have so much to be thankful for. From the food we eat to the roof over our head, to the bed we sleep upon, to the health we have, to the car we drive and to the freedom we have to worship God, the list goes on and on. Regardless of what we face on a daily or weekly basis, we should always be willing to offer up a sacrifice of thanksgiving.

To a degree, it should not even be called a sacrifice. There is always more to thank God for than to complain about! However, we all do experience life in general, which means good and bad times, and if this has been a difficult season or year for you, I want you to be encouraged to offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving, which is the fruit of your life. God is hungry for our fruit, and our fruit is our praises to Him. It is blessing His sweet, wonderful and holy name because He is always the same. He never changes! He is never sitting on His throne, wringing His hands in worrisome anticipation concerning what will happen next. He is still God, and He deserves our best praise with all of our hearts. Give thanks to Him today. He overwhelmingly deserves it!
