Jesus is LORD, Pt. 2

Mark 10:42-45 says, “2But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. 43But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: 44And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. 45For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”

When reading in the New Testament concerning Jesus being our LORD, people paint a picture of what Jesus describes in Mark 10:42. With that same mindset, we see ourselves as slaves who are forced into obedience, but Christ’s lordship is seen in the way He served others. We can serve Him, and can be bold and encouraged to do so, because of the example He has set before us! When we declare Christ as LORD, we are making His name great because of the sacrifice He paid on the cross. As a result, we can position our hearts to receive everything God has served to us! Mark 11:22-24 says, “22And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Since God knows what we have need of before we even ask, we should approach God in worship, declaring and receiving everything we are believing!

According to Romans 14:17, the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. Just as the Lordship of Christ gives you access for your desires and petitions in prayer to be answered, He also doesn’t enslave you to bitterness, hard labor, brokenness and pain, but your surrender to Him allows you to encounter His righteousness, peace and joy! We have:

1) Peace by being justified by faith. Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
2) Joy by receiving the atonement. Romans 5:11 says, “And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”
3) Righteousness unto eternal life by God’s grace reigning over us. Romans 5:21 says, “That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Righteousness is not hardship, but a gift from God that produces eternal life!

Romans 6:11 says, “Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus Christ as your LORD doesn’t mean you are forced to live a righteous life, but through surrendering to Him, you take upon yourselves His righteousness, insomuch that His righteousness becomes more natural, knowing that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives on the inside of you.
