Having the Right Lawyer

Luke 11:52 says, “Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.”

Lawyers are defenders of people in accordance to the law, or fight on people’s behalf to win a case. In this case, the Pharisees were lawyers who had taken away the key of knowledge, locking up the kingdom so they themselves, along with others, would not enter. Since they knew the law, they knew how to keep their listeners and followers who weren’t as comprehensive or educated to be blinded from the truth. They did not want to walk in the truth themselves, and if someone else had its revelation, then they would be exposed and put on notice. Therefore, it is important to have the right lawyer.

According to 1 John 2:1, we have an advocate, or lawyer, who serves as our defense against accusations through the grace of God, and that is Jesus Christ. He defends all of the truth, and there is an unlimited knowledge He possesses concerning the kingdom of God. We do not have to be stagnant in our Christian walk. We can go deeper than we have ever been before, and it comes through a true, consistent and authentic relationship with Jesus Christ!
