2022: The Year of …

Romans 8:6-9 (KJV) says, “6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”
Romans 12:2 (KJV) says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
As we have celebrated going into the New Year with friends, family and maybe even coworkers, so many churches and pastors are trying to come up with themes for their ministries for 2022. It might be a catchy phrase or a nice rhyme that everyone can remember, but, at the end of the day, it oftentimes has no merit to the vision and purpose that we have as the body of Christ in the kingdom of God! Therefore, we need to do everyone a favor, and, simply, stop it!
This whole thing of “2022:  The Year of…” has to end because flipping the calendar doesn’t change who we are or effect what we are called to do. Regardless of what goals or resolutions we have set to start the new year, they mean absolutely nothing until we have a change of heart and a change of mind. We must surrender a carnal mindset that reacts to everything going on around us so we can be equipped with the mind of Christ! We must renew our minds by meditating upon the Word of God, praying and become willing to think God’s thoughts toward us. God’s heart for us is to truly have life and peace, and the only pathway towards that is to be spiritually minded! While a different mindset may not guarantee a better year with what happens to us or around us, it will transform you into a better you! So, it is time to prove the good, acceptable and perfect will of God!
